Auditions for Spring MDE Guest Artist Work

The faculty is pleased to announce that our 2013 Spring MDE Guest Artist work will be choreographed by Betty Skeen. Auditions will be on December 8th from 2‐4 PM in Studio 2. The Studio will be available at 1:00pm on the audition day for warm­‐up.

There will be an intensive weekend of Saturday and Sunday, January 19th and 20th from 12:30pm‐5:00pm. Regular rehearsals will be on Saturdays (possibly Sundays) from 12:30pm‐5:00pm (studio will be available at 12pm for warm‐up).  Please be warm and ready to go.

Betty Skeen is a choreographer, dancer, and video artist currently based in Brooklyn, New York. She holds a BA in dance from Sweet Briar College and an MFA in choreography from the University of Maryland. At the moment, she is particularly interested by sound sculptures, the miniature, telepathy, monsters, and leadership. Skeen's work has been seen at Joy of Motion, The Rink, Artomatic, ACDFA, Area 405, Hive Gallery, Sweet Briar College, and Dance Place. She has been honored to have her solo work favorably reviewed by the Washington Post and to have recently received two Metro DC Dance awards for a shared concert with dancer and choreographer Tzveta Kassabova featuring the works "The Opposite of Killing" and "Geminuspace," performed at Dance Place in 2011.
