ALEXANDRA KELLY COLBURN is a third year MFA Candidate in Design specializing in Projections and Multimedia Design. Originally from Maryland, Kelly has a B.F.A. in Theater from New York University Tisch School of the Arts and has worked as a multimedia designer, stage manager, and director in New York City from 2011 - 2015. Prior to attending UMD, she assisted multimedia and projections designers Jared Mezzocchi, Reid Farrington, and Imaginary Media Artists as well as stage managed for Playwrights Horizons Theater School, the Meisner Studio, and various venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

 

This year, Kelly is a NextLOOK Artist working on a piece called termiNATION that explores American proximity to grief, politics, and religion through the eyes of a pregnant war widow. A truly one woman show that will aim to burden the performer with the task of performing and board op-ing the performance.

 

Recent design credits include Alice In Wonderland (National Players Tour 69), Proper Care of the Peace Lily (Capital Fringe), Still Life with Rocket (Theater Alliance), The One Mile Radius Project (Orange Grove Dance/NextLOOK Series), The Schooling of Bento Bonchev (UMD), The Hard Problem (Studio Theatre), Kiss (Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company), and Anne Frank (Olney Theatre Company.)

Recent directing credits include untitled homage to my twenties in new york city (UMD's Second Season) and Legacy & Liveness (NextNOW Festival, in collaboration with Rob Siler & Carolyn Emery.)

Upcoming design credits include The Effect (assistant, Studio Theatre), shook (UMD), The Princess & The Pauper (Imagination Stage.)

Past credits include Romanov, Dance Exchange's 40th Anniversary Gala with Mark Costello, Faculty Dance Concert, Tom In The Machine, Hauntings, Invoking Justice, mentoring undergraduate projections designer for UMoves 2016, and stage managed Juárez: A Documentary Mythology for Theater MITU at the Kontakt Festival in Torun, Poland and Santiago de Chile with DUOC University.
