Kristina (Krissy) Harris is a second-year MFA Dance candidate and Teaching Assistant at the University of Maryland Department of Theatre Dance and Performance Studies. Outside of her teaching assistantship, she has also served as an instructor for TDPS and OES summer courses: Introduction to Dance and Dance Improvisation. Recent UMD performances include works by Heidi McFall, Monica Bill Barnes and Shawn Truman Stone. She has shown her choreographic work in Second Season: Shared Graduate Dance Concert, and various informal dance department showings such as TDPS First Fridays. Prior to UMD, Krissy enjoyed working as a freelance dance and teaching artist with various individuals, companies and organizations in New York. She taught as an adjunct professor at Adelphi University for BFA dance composition and improvisation courses. She was also a faculty member at Berest Dance Center, where she taught a wide range of styles and repertory to youth dancers. Krissy was a company member with TYKE Dance Company/Sophie Sotsky, and she performed/collaborated with: Britney Falcon/Falcon Dance Company, Stephanie Saywell, Amanda Hinchey & Dancers, Sarah Lass, DANCIFY That!, Chris Ferris & Dancers, Deborah Lohse, Suzan Polat and Sukalyann D. Entourage. Her choreographic work was shown at Gibney Dance Center’s I <3 GDC Festival and ShowDown Series, Dixon Place, the Built on Stilts Festival, Triskelion Arts’ Comedy in Dance Festival, WAXworks, the NACHMO series at Mark Morris Dance Center and the Actors Fund Arts Center, Alchemical Theatre Laboratory, and Movement Research Open Performance. 

Krissy also worked as an Administrative Assistant to the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, a full-time intern and festival coordinator for Battery Dance Company, and a marketing intern at Movement Research.
