Renee Gerardo

Renee Gerardo is a performer, teacher and dance maker based in New York City. She is originally from Michigan and received a BFA in Dance from University of Colorado, Boulder as well as an MA in Exercise Physiology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Renee performs with and is artistic director of Renee Gerardo/Dances.

Her work has been shown throughout New York City (Triskelion Arts Presents, Green Space, BAX, Alchemical Lab Studios, Axis Arts, WAXWorks, Gibney Dance, Spoke the Hub and Dance Theater Workshop through Dixon Place.) Having trained, competed and coached as a triathlete for over 7 years, Renee competed in several triathlons, half marathons and marathons including the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. Renee danced with The Moving Architects at Ailey Citigroup Theater in New York, Green Street Studios in Boston, as well as many other regional theaters in New York and New Jersey. She has also performed with whiteroad/dance media, April Biggs and Company, and in collaboration with Jenny Pommiss as one half of The Achievements.

Renee has had the pleasure of learning and/or performing with Alexandra Beller, waxfactory (Erika Latta and Ivan Talijancic), Kathleen Hermesdorf, Albert Mathias, Martha Myers, David Dorfman, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, Irene Dowd, Sean Curran, Donnell Oakley, Jenna Riegel, Christina Robson, Kendra Portier, Marissa Nielsen-Pincus, Tom Pearson and Doug Gillespie.

Renee is a classically trained Pilates Instructor with 16 years’ experience as well as an instructor of the MELT Method for 5 years and was a youth coach for BAX Youth Works program in 2017.
