Ann Randolph Playwriting Workshop

February 04, 2014 School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies

Arena Stage welcomes UMD students of all academic backgrounds (as well as recent graduates) to a free workshop with professional playwright, actress, and educator, Ann Randolph

The workshop will be held Saturday, February 8th from 5:30-7:30 in the Rever Rehearsal Hall at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on Campus (the rehearsal hall is on the uppermost level of the building in the theatre wing; up to the top of the main staircases).  It will consist of the following:

1.  Introduction by Ann describing her past and current work

2.Question/Answer session in which the students are entitled to ask anything (even questions related to their own  personal creative pieces) to Ann.

3.  A final section in which Ann and the those attending will create a collaborative devised piece (which may include any number of acting and writing forms—improv, movement, monologue, etc.)

The workshop format is relatively flexible, so if any of you have ideas to suggest that may help your own personal growth, let us know!  What we hope you gather from this workshop are skills and knowledge that could be helpful in the professional writing and acting world.  In addition, we hope the work explored during the workshop and questions asked will be relevant and helpful to your own pieces and projects.  By attending the workshop, you get discounted tickets to see Randolph’s Loveland at Arena Stage.
