Students in Dance in Global Context course reveal research topics

DANCE 784, Dance in Global Context, end-of-semester presentations in early December included works-in-progress of class participants drawing on ideas from the dance ethnography model of The Dance Event.

Students explored applications to various research and choreographic projects that they are currently working on. Topics included:

Elisabeth Fallica: New York’s neo-burlesque Dirty Martini: a look at body, movement, and paraphernalia

Erin Crawley-Woods: Walk with me: scenes from a tango initiation

Ana Farfan: Tzinacapan’s Danza de Migueles: conceptualizing an ethnographic film

Jessica Laurita-Spanglet: Modeling the micro/macro: an imagining of a thesis concert in the making
