December 11, 2013 School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies

Congratulations to TDPS Director and Professor Leigh Wilson Smiley on receiving the Inaugural Foxworth Initiative!

Congratulations to TDPS Director and Professor Leigh Wilson Smiley on receiving the Inaugural Foxworth Initiative! Professor Smiley will develop a course entitled "Community Partnership for the Performing Arts" that will involve exercises in improvisation, storytelling, interpersonal interaction. They will develop interpersonal communication skills through language and movement, and the course will culminate in the creation of a final piece. The course will allow students to better engage with others and will foster confidence and empowerment to show what it is possible to achieve through techniques from the performing arts. Professor Smiley discusses her plans in a video here.
