TDPS Main Season Selection 2015-2016

September 12, 2014 School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies

TDPS Main Season Selection 2015-2016

The TDPS Season Selection committee respectfully requests submissions for the 2015-2016 season.  Both theatre, dance and hybrid projects will be considered as part of this selection process.  The deadline is Friday, October 3rd.

We seek to provide our student performers with as many main stage opportunities in a given season as possible.  In that spirit, we prefer productions requiring at least 8 performers, and are unlikely to consider proposals with fewer than 5.  In addition, those proposing should recognize that many more women audition for our productions than men, therefore productions with all-male casts or with very few roles for women may have severe difficulty in the casting process, and are harder for the committee to approve.  Likewise, we strongly encourage proposals that will take an inclusive approach to casting, that make the fullest possible use of our diverse student population.

Performing in the TDPS season is often the high point of the undergraduate performer’s experience, and we want that experience to be as productive, educational, and positive as possible!

For the 15-16 production season we are especially interested in receiving proposals that meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Classical projects that have been updated with a modern twist.  We are specifically interested in the Greeks and other early forms of theatre.
  • Projects suitable for national or international festivals, these projects would need to be small in scale.
  • Projects that could be included in the DC Theatre Women’s Festival.
  • Hybrid projects involving theatre and dance.

In addition to welcoming proposal submissions for the upcoming season by Friday, October 3, 2014 we also encourage the submission of preliminary proposals for projects for future seasons or that require longer development.
