    Sara Pearson and Patrik Widrig, artistic directors of PEARSONWIDRIG DANCETHEATER since 1987, have gained an international following for work that transforms the familiar into the “mysterious, the subversive, and the intimate”. The dance partners, known for their contemporary, site-specific projects and community dance/theater/video installations are also an academic team at the UMD School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies, where they are associate professors of dance.

    Matthew Shifflett and Aaron Tobiason, PhD candidates in Theatre and Performance Studies, have been accepted to UMD's new, prestigious Writing Fellows program.

    James Hesla, PhD Candidate in Theatre and Performance Studies, was recently awarded a Fulbright Grant for graduate research in Indonesia during the 2013-14 academic year.  Hesla will study traditional masked dance/drama in Bali, with an emphasis on comic performances and clowning.  His advisor is Dr. Laurie Frederik Meer.

    The Second Season is the premiere venue for undergraduate and graduate students to produce up to five productions ranging from works in progress to polished productions.
