Student Dance Association

The Student Dance Association is comprised primarily of Dance majors and is committed to providing additional training and performance opportunities for and by student dancers.  Each semester the SDA offers dance classes in a variety of forms and produces the New Dances performances in the Dance Theatre.  The SDA also hosts visiting artists to teach master classes and set works on its membership.

Ballet Company M

Ballet Company M offers the opportunity for additional training, practice and performance to students interested in focusing more strongly in ballet.  This group meets twice per week for classes and rehearsals and occasionally performs in New Dances.

University of Maryland (UMD) alumni John Ford ‘64 and Sandra Poster ‘64 met during their undergraduate years in the UMD Theatre program, then known as Speech & Dramatic Arts. They went on to build careers in speech and communications, and they are longtime patrons of the arts.

The School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies welcomes three artists-in-residence in Dance for the upcoming 2017-2018 academic year.

The School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies is seeking an Artist-in-Residence in Dance to teach in the graduate dance (MFA) program and the undergraduate dance major at UMD TDPS.
