Kelly Colburn
Lecturer, Interim Head of Projections and Media Design, Dance/Theatre Design and Production
Kelly is a Washington, D.C. based interdisciplinary artist working as a director, designer, and devised theater maker. Kelly received her BFA in Drama at New York University at Tisch School of the Arts having studied at Playwrights Horizons Theater School and Stonestreet Acting Studio. She is the first class of Projections and Multimedia Design graduates from the University of Maryland's MFA in Media/Projections Design through the Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies.
In addition, Kelly serves as the Executive Director of Flying V, a nerd and pop culture performing arts company. She is also a Lecturer at University of Maryland College Park's School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies, and serves as the Projection and Media Design Advisor for Graduate Students pursuing their Master's Degree at UMD. She is a recurring artist with Christopher K. Morgan and Artists and Orange Grove Dance. Previously, she was an Artistic Lead of Theatre at Flying V and a Digital Producer at Theater Alliance.
Kelly is a five-time Helen Hayes Award Nominee, a two-time Helen Hayes Award Recipient, a two-time Barrymore nominee, a Henry Hewes nominee, and a Lucille Lortel Award nominee in the Projection and Multimedia Design categories.
