Film Festival - Documenting Placelessness: Nowhere to be Found

College of Arts and Humanities | School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures | School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies Thursday, March 7, 2024 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Dance Theatre

Documenting Placelessness is a film festival, curated by Van Tran Nguyen. The film festival will explore key questions of the collaboration in the US context by featuring short films by Asian diasporic artists that each play upon notions of innovations in technology, or speculation, to convey the murky dispositions of identity. Yusef Najafi, Jaime Sunwoo, and Mengtai Zhang are media makers that mix analog and emerging technology such as puppetry, 3D animation, and extended reality to expand traditions of narrative film. Their experimental approach not only redefines their medium but also their fields of creative research. This event will bring together these artists in conversation around the theme of material, identity, and technology. This event will be open to the general public and conclude with a Q&A with the filmmakers.
