James Sivert

James “J.D.” Sivert (he/him) is a first year M.A. student in the Theatre and Performance Arts program at the University of Maryland.  J.D.’s educational background includes a degree in political science and international affairs from Florida State University and a second Bachelor’s in theatre studies from Towson University in 2013.  J.D. is a practitioner of theatre—an actor, dramaturg, director, and, most recently, a playwright, debuting his first produced play in 2021 at Maryland Ensemble Theatre in Frederick, MD, where he also produced a new play festival from 2017-2020.

His research interests include playwriting, new play dramaturgy, and the intersection of theatre and new media.
