Ed Spitzberg is a nonprofit executive, fundraiser and strategic advisor with over two decades’ experience in nonprofit leadership. Ed founded Spitzberg Advisors, a strategic advisory firm serving nonprofit organizations and leaders with leadership advisory and coaching, board development, transition planning, fundraising planning, program development, retreat facilitation, and strategic planning, with a particular expertise in the arts. Spitzberg Advisors’ clients range from new organizations to organizations that have served the community for decades; with budgets from $100,000 to funders with endowments in the billions.
Ed served as Executive Director of nonprofit organizations including the multidisciplinary arts education program Sitar Arts Center, serving young people from low-income families in Washington, DC. Ed was also a senior development executive for Arena Stage and the Afterschool Alliance. Ed was a co-producer of SHAKE AND BAKE: LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST Off-Broadway where it was nominated for a 2019 Drama Desk Award, and the created of THE EDDIE LOUNGE SHOW which won the Pick of the Fringe Best Overall Show Award in the 2015 Capital Fringe Festival and was subsequently presented at AMP by Strathmore. Ed is a member of the Interim Executive Network and Interim Executive Solutions, and is an adjunct faculty member of Indiana University’s Lilly School of Philanthropy’s The Fund Raising School.
Prior to his nonprofit career, Ed worked in the corporate arena, including senior product management positions at the Walt Disney Company and an internet start-up, Comedy World. Ed has an MBA from UCLA Anderson, where he is an Impact Fellow, and a BA in Ethics, Politics and Economics from Yale University, where he is on the board of the Yale Alumni Nonprofit Alliance.
